Lost in Tradition

is a dance solo based on the fact that for many people, tradition is a diffuse phenomena. They are torn between the tradition of the country their parents or themselves come from, the “new” Heimat and the influence of all media like music, internet and television as well as the environment and nature. The dancer Photini Meletiadis is Greek, living in Cologne in Germany. The soundtrack consists of sounds from markets in Athens and Dortmund, of German carnival music, a collage of moslem prayers and flamenco singers, of German rock music and Greek and Turkish songs, a sequence of Lappland and sounds of nature. The costume is used in Cologne carnival.”
